Hello, my name is Celene, and I recognize the immense courage it takes to seek support.
Often, we grapple with internalized notions that we should handle everything independently, which can foster fear or shame around discussing our vulnerabilities. Your presence here signifies a bold step toward dismantling those barriers.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in person-centred, trauma-informed care, emphasizing the pivotal role of the therapeutic relationship. I strive to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment characterized by warmth, empathy, and non-judgment. Drawing from diverse psychological modalities, I tailor interventions to honour each person’s individuality and uniqueness.
With nearly a decade of experience in law enforcement and extensive work with diverse populations, including children, youth, persons with disabilities, and the LGBTQ2S+ community, I bring a wealth of understanding and empathy to my practice. Complementing my professional background, I hold certifications in various areas, including Aboriginal Worldviews and Education, Black Lives Matter, and Psychological First Aid. Furthermore, my passion for animal welfare, underscored by the companionship of my two rescue dogs, informs my holistic approach to healing.
I embrace the transformative power of self-awareness and acceptance and am deeply committed to mindfulness, meditation, and yoga. In therapy, I prioritize active listening and empathy, recognizing the profound significance of honouring each person’s journey and the inherent process of change. As a practicum student in the final portion of my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University, I am dedicated to supporting individuals navigating challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress, and life transitions.
In Elizabeth Gilbert’s words, “Ruin is a gift. Ruin is the road to transformation.” As your therapist, I am committed to creating a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your challenges, discover your strengths, and embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery. Together, we can navigate the complexities of life with courage and resilience.
