Meet Our Team:

At Centred Self, we believe that providing care to our clients is not just about the therapist - it is about the supportive environment of the whole centre.

Ryan Bittinger (they/them): Practice Manager / Workshop Co-facilitator

Ryan is a healer, teacher, researcher, and Doctor of Psychotherapy. They are passionate about helping others to better understand themselves and the difficulties they face. Ryan enjoys sharing their expertise in both Psychodynamic and Person-Centered Therapy, and sharing the benefits of these modalities with other therapists. Ryan is also passionate about educating practitioners to work with adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse and other forms of childhood abuse. In this vein, Ryan serves on Kingdom Abuse Survivor's Project's Board of Trustees, which is a non-profit organization that seeks to offer counselling and other supports to survivors in Fife, Scotland, UK. As a member of the LGBTQI+ community, Ryan advocates for appropriate recognition of the challenges LGBTQI+ folks face, and helps organizations to offer supportive and informed services for those folks.

Ryan brings experience of management and administration in mental health and addictions to their work at Centred-Self, and aims to provide a supportive and friendly environment to clients seeking services and the associates who work with us. Ryan is also pleased to be involved in offering workshops and trainings to practitioners as a part of the Centred-Self team. In addition to their work at CS, Ryan is a Fellow at Maria Droste Counseling Center in Denver, CO, USA, and offers psychotherapy there.

Miguel (Mikey) Cueva (he/him): Business Development Specialist

Hey! I’m Miguel, I am research trained professional with experience in sales, marketing and science communication. I am very passionate about bringing mental health services and awareness to help ameliorate people’s overall wellbeing. As someone who advocates and uses counseling and therapy services such as Centred Self, I know first-hand how life saving this services can be.

At Centred Self we want to grow our community and bring mental health care & self-care to as many people as possible. So, in collaboration with the entire Centred Self Team and group of therapists, I’ll be responsible for finding new opportunities for business growth and optimize our marketing strategies. I’ll help draft business plans, help search for funding opportunities, and help establish effective networks.

More about me! I am an avid reader, podcast listener, yoga enthusiast, and is becoming obsessed with CrossFit.

Monica Lau (she/her): Exec Assistant

Hello! I'm Monica and I have spent the last decade helping people see the world around them in health care and ophthalmology.  I have always been facinated by psychology, the mind and human relationships.  So now I'm working towards a Masters of Arts in Counselling and Psychotherapy to help people see themselves in their world in a different way.   I believe that therapy offers a place for us to connect with ourselves deeply, to explore the vast possibilites our lives and to empower us to claim our sovereignty.

Meeting you where you are, just as you are is where this journey begins and we will wrestle through the tough stuff, take detours and the road less taken while having a bit of fun along the way - together.

Aside from the day-to-day, I am a psychonaut and Krav Maga enthusiast who is always tinkering with something - right now it's micro, balcony, container farming.  I wouldn't go a day without a high-five from my rescue pup, Olive.

Alyssa Pallett (she/her): Social Capital Developer

As someone who has struggled with mental health my entire life, I recognise the importance of having the right support available in that journey.

I experienced first-hand the frustration of fighting depression while trying to achieve financial stability and move forward with my education and entrepreneurial goals even as someone coming from a privileged background with more resources available to me. Now imagine throwing poverty and under-privilege into that mix and we can begin to grasp how important mental health is if we want to empower and uplift peoples lives, especially those in lower income/marginalised demographics.

When Jess described her vision for Centred Self a year ago I knew our goals were aligned. Centred Self as a social enterprise aims to play a key role in solving the growing mental health epidemic, by using future profits to subsidise and provide accessible mental healthcare to those who cannot afford it.

My goal for the enterprise is to help grow the social development fund through for-profit events geared around wellness, music, art, culture and gastronomy, so that these subsidies can have a broader reach, helping Centred Self to achieve an even greater impact.

Denise Danda (she/her): CS Marketing Intern

My name is Denise and I work as the marketing intern at Centred Self.

I love Digital Marketing. It allows me to tap into my analytical side while staying true to my creative nature. I also have a deep appreciation for those who work together with people in doing the work which allows them to discover who they really are underneath all the stress, trauma and anxieties of life.

There has never been a better time to create more awareness around mental health. The pandemic has been a very traumatic time on a global and individual scale so the work is that much more necessary. It is also important to note that a lot of work has already been done over the past few (even pre-pandemic) years to tackle the negative stigma around mental health and this means that we have the perfect opportunity to build on what has already been done while giving people the push to speak up and get help, or simply to understand what makes them tick.

Maggie: Therapy Dog | Centred Self Mascot

Hello! I'm Maggie and I am 2.5 years old. I love being around everyone I meet - and I have never met a treat I don't love.

I really like cuddles and playing fetch. I am still very bouncy, but I am in training to be a therapy dog and love making people feel good.

I wanted to be the Centred Self mascot to make people smile, and also to help break the stigma against mental health. Hopefully with my goofy looks throughout this webpage allow you to feel welcomed to get the care you need.
