Hi, my name is Fotini, and I want to acknowledge how difficult it can be to reach out for help. We often have internalized messages that we should be able to handle everything on our own and may feel scared, or even ashamed to talk to someone about our most vulnerable experiences. If you are here, you have taken a courageous step towards breaking through those barriers.
My practice is person-centred, trauma and attachment informed. I believe the relationship developed between me and you is the foundation to effective therapy. My approach is collaborative and inclusive, meaning I will not be clinically removed but rather warm, empathic, and non-judgemental. I integrate a number of different treatment models including psychodynamic and interpersonal as well as elements of CBT and DBT, because I believe that everyone is unique and as such requires an approach tailored to them. I don’t believe in band-aids, quick fixes and lots of worksheets. I believe in providing a safe, open space for you to be heard and validated as we unpack the issues together.
I work with individuals experiencing issues including depression, self-harm and suicidal ideation, anxiety, relationship issues and loneliness, stress and issues related to life transitions. I specialize in supporting tweens, teens and their families experiencing mood and anxiety disorders with suicidality and self-harm behaviours.
My qualifications include a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, a Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Child and Youth Counselling Diploma. In my career as a mental health counsellor, I have been honoured to meet and work with so many people and build incredible relationships. The strength and resilience in each person never ceases to amaze and humble me.
